 * Thai characters consist of 44 consonants, vowels, tonemarks, diacritics and 
 * Thai digits. Thai vowels are divided into 4 groups, Leading Vowels (LV), 
 * Following Vowels (FV), Below Vowels (BV) and Above Vowels (AV). There are 4 
 * tonemarks whose position is above a consonant. Diacritics are divided into 
 * 2 groups, Above Diacritics (AD) and Below Diacritics (BD).
 *
 * Libthai has defined 4 levels for the position of a character.
 *
 *   @li  Below level: a character is placed below the consonant. 
 *        th_chlevel() will return the value -1 for these characters. 
 *
 *   @li  Base level: this includes consonants, FV and LV. A character is 
 *        placed on baseline. 
 *        th_chlevel() will return the value 0 for these characters.

 *   @li  Above level: a character is placed just above the consonant.
 *        th_chlevel() will return the value 1 for these characters.
